In episode 8 of 3D Universe Untethered, co-hosts Jeremy Simon and Jen Owen of 3D Universe spend an hour chatting with “Dentist by Day” and “Intriguing Artist by day off” – Vic Chaney.
Vic was featured in a previous blog where he shared that he has loved making things since he was about 3 years old. He started with cardboard, tape, and string. Later on, he added woodworking, welding, plastic working, casting metal in gold and silver and bronze, and working with various other types of mediums and tools until he finally discovered a whole new level of creative possibilities with 3D printing.
“I get an idea of something that I want to make and it is the project that determines what skills I use to deal with it.
A 3D printer enables me to imagine something and make it right from my imagination. I don’t have to worry so much about machining something that might be hard to machine. I can just draw it on the computer and print it.”
Listen to him share with us about some of his favorite 3D printed projects that he has created on his Ultimaker 3D printer – from Musical Laser Rainbows and custom made fireworks jigs, to a floating 3D printed “Castle in the Clouds,” an LED fretboard, an Infinity cube, and much more!
