I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a new product launch! The Dremel DigiLab LC40 Laser Cutter has just been released, and it has some great features and capabilities.
Being located near the Bosch/Dremel headquarters, I’ve had the opportunity to see the Dremel LC40 in action several times during the product development lifecycle. It’s been very exciting to see it coming together, and now that it’s ready for the public, I think Dremel has come up with a great product.
The first thing I noticed was the ease of use. The laser cutter includes an onboard camera. After you place your media into the laser cutter, the camera sends images to the software. Then you can easily overlay your graphic and position it on your media. Dremel has included a library of different material settings, making it very quick and easy to create items with the LC40.
The Dremel LC40 Laser Cutter can engrave, score, and cut a wide range of materials:
In addition to being easy to use, the Dremel LC40 is surprisingly fast. We engraved our logo on a leather-bound notebook, and the whole job took about 2-3 minutes.
Dremel has invested a lot of effort into making the Dremel LC40 a safe device, even when used in situations where children may be involved. The LC40 is UL approved and has a variety of safety sensors to ensure the device cannot operate until all safety checks have passed.
Unlike other laser cutters, the Dremel LC40 is designed for continuous operation. The laser is accompanied by their innovative “Hex Box”, which continuously runs cool water through the laser tube, allowing the Dremel LC40 to be used without interruption.
The LC40 has a large touch-screen for easy operation:
And the software is built directly into the laser, which enables internet-free reliability to run projects.
